Central Units Corruption Prevention Committee

The University of Nairobi constituted several committee to foresee the issues of corruption and report to the EACC.  The Central Units corruption committee comprises of the 22 units of central administration.  This committee is chaired by the University Finance Officer.  They usually hold quarterly meetings to deliberate on issues of corruption in their units and forward a report to university corruption committee which compiles all the reports submitted from colleges and central units then re-submit the same report to EACC.

This has been going on for some time now and has reduced the rate of corruption in public Institutions.  Some time back, some members of staff would offer services to clients in exchange for money, but with the introduction of such committees, services are now offered free to all who needs them. A while back some staff members from Extral -Mural ended up losing their jobs for changing grades of some students who had performed poorly in exchange for money. This issues in public institutions were very common but many hope that the systems of corruption would get checked even better so that the issue of corruption would the no more.

Our Country Kenya has lost a lot of money to corruption and many Kenyans have suffered as a result of it being rampant in various parts of the country.  A day ago on Citizen Television, during the 7pm news, a very senior officer in parliament was shown being sentenced to 7 years in prison after being found guilty of corruption for mismanagement of about 313 million Kenya Shillings in the Maize scandal which left poor farmers unpaid after selling their maize to the government.  Such corrupt cases have led to under development of the country as some of those in power keep taking advantage of the poor who end up suffering in silence.
