Corona on the Highways

It has been 100 days since the first Corona Virus case was reported in Kenya.  The cases for those infected by the virus has reached 5,000.  The cases have been increasing on daily basis but in the month of June the numbers reported have been very high with many wondering what could have triggered the numbers to increase that much. Most people have been seen not wearing the face masks and others though wearing the masks, are doing it wrongly by either covering the head or the chin for others. This could be one of the reasons why the rate of infections are escalating.

The highways still remain open to travellers to come into and out of Nairobi as well as other parts of the country regardless of the watch of the traffic police. Some of the passengers are said to be travelling without face masks.  The President in his speech dated June 6, 2020 informed  Kenyans that the lock down was still on for another 30 days but the traffic police and the travellers have contravened the directives of the president by allowing people in and out of Nairobi and other counties that there was the lock down.

The story by Citizen Television surprised many people that despite the lockdown of entering and leaving Nairobi people are still travelling in and out of Nairobi.  The traffic police on the highways are being given bribes and they let the vehicles in and out of Nairobi.  Our highways are no longer safe for people and if one can avoid, please keep off until when the president lifts the lock down.  It is just a matter of time and this corona virus will be history.  God is with us and all will be well soon.  Stay safe and keep distance and wear masks as we were instructed by the health officers.  Corona is real and we need to prevent the infections by abiding to the presidential directives.
