The University of Nairobi officially launched its strategic Plan 2023-2027 and commissioned the UoN@50 Anniversary book on Friday, June 14, 2024 at the Confucius Institute.
Speaking during the launch, the Chair of the Committee, Prof. John Mande noted the record time in accomplishment of the delivery of the Strategic Plan since the committee was appointed and until the production of the draft was 1 year and it was a short time as compared to others historically. Prof. Mande also appreciated the diversity of expertise in the formulation of the committee members from the whole University.
Mr. John Orindi, Director,Corporate Affairs gave an overview of the UoN@50 anniversary book on the history of the University as captured in thematic areas of leadership, milestones, graduation ceremonies, students’ association, sports, celebration of long-serving staff among others. He appreciated the sponsors who made the publication possible from the former Chancellor, Dr. Mrs. Vijoo Rattansi, ABSA, KASNEB, CHUNA, UNES. He also announced that the anniversary book will be available for sale at the University Bookstore.
Prof. Stephen Kiama, the Vice-Chancellor, while launching the Strategic Plan and commissioning of the UoN@50 anniversary book congratulated the teams for working tirelessly on the Strategic Plan and the UoN@50 anniversary book. He urged all the stakeholders to go ahead and cascade the plan down to Departments.
