COVID 19: AN ENEMY OF PROGRESS

The Covid 19 pandemic is an invisible enemy.  The enemy moves among us unseen and we are relying mostly on case counts by the Ministry of Health to track its movement.  At the beginning of 2020, people ushered in the new year with great expectations.  Many made resolutions but little did they knew that the enemy was approaching. The enemy entered into the world and spread like wild fire.  All over the world people were in loss, frustrated, confused and in fear.  The moment the first case was announced in Kenya every thing came to a stand still.

The schools from Universities to Colleges were all closed, churches and all social gatherings were put on hold and companies were also closed in fear of spreading of the disease.  The closure is still on and people are in dilemma on what to do next.  The businesses and boarders are also slowly closing.  People are in isolation waiting to be tested as others are not sure of their status.  The restriction of movement in and out of cities has been extended for another 21 days, families have been separated with people wondering when it will all come to an end.  Buying goods and services freely as it were is slowly becoming a thing of the past.  With people slowly becoming their worst enemies as the spread continues.

Dreams and aspirations for 2020 are slowly dying, with people no longer speaking much about development but mostly hoping and praying  for protection against the horrible disease. Dreams of building houses, advancing in career, touring of the world, saving for future, have mostly been put on hold.  This tempting moment only needs us to  Keep safe and trust in the Almighty God.  Our tomorrow will eventually come.
