National Examinations Timetable Rescheduled in Kenya

The Education Cabinet Secretary Professor Magoha reported that he has been touring various schools in the country to assess how conducive facilities are for the health and safety of the children, teachers and other staff in education institutions.  Adding that most schools seem to be congested  and will have to adhere to the rules of social distancing when they reopen, therefore urging management of these schools to construct additional classrooms to cater for those students safety while learning.

When schools reopen, teachers will have to continue teaching from where they left off for the benefit of those that could not continue with the online studies. The examination timetable has also been rescheduled to April 2021 to enable the teachers to cover the syllabus and the students to have humble time to do their revision if schools are to reopen come September.  The government has funded the project of additional classrooms and washrooms and installation of water tanks where the supply of water is a problem.  The ministry has engaged the National Youth Service to make the face masks at a reasonable price though parents are also encouraged to buy enough face masks as the government will issue only two reusable masks per each student.

As a matter of concern, he urged the parents to take care of their children while at home after receiving news that about 4,000 girls had been impregnated during this period of covid 19 while they are under the care of their parents.
