Prof. Kiama taking over the leadership of the University of Nairobi as the eighth Vice-Chancellor

The virtual installation of Prof. Kiama on Friday June 5, 2020 was witnessed by many people including the students, staffs and stakeholders.  During the ceremony Prof. was handed over the following instruments of the University of Nairobi to enable him execute his mandate by being guided by the rules and regulations of the land.  The Constitution of Kenya 2010 symbolises the sovereignty of the rule of law and the will of the citizens of Kenya.  The Universities Act No. 42 of 2012 which has an oversight role over management and quality provision of University Education in Kenya.The University of Nairobi Charter 2013 which sets out the functions, objectives, mission and guiding philosophy of the university.  The University Standards and guideline, 2014 that the University should have a vision and mission statement and philosophy which clearly and succinctly indicate its strategic direction. 

The code of conduct and ethics for public Universities 2009 to be observed by the members, officers and employees of the public universities so as to maintain the integrity and nobility of university education. The University of Nairobi Statutes (section 23 of the Universities Act 2012)  Statutes and regulations for the governance, control and administration of the affairs of the University and for the better carrying into effect of the objectives of the University education.  The Seal of the University (Instrument of authority under section 65 of the Universities Act 2012)  used for regulated official business, as in documents such as University deeds, certificates and other documents to denote authority and deemed to be duly executed by or on behalf of the University of Nairobi.  The list continuous.
