UNIVERSITIES FORM GLOBAL NETWORK ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The global climate network is an alliance of influential think tanks  and research institutes in different countries that collaborate on research into climate change policy and whose aim is to help address the political blockages to ambitious action to tackle global warming. The aim of the coordination network  is to vision a prosperous and secure world in which green houses gas emissions could be reduced to a level that is no longer harmful the climate system. Working together the network construct a narrative for action on climate change that is concerned with human and economic progress as well as environmental well being.  The global climate network publishes research that seeks to highlight the barriers and opportunities in the transition to a global low carbon economy.  Effects if not mitigated could lead to shortage of fresh water, inability to produce food, increase number of deaths from the floods, storms and heat waves.  As the world warms, more water evaporates, leading to more moisture in the air leading to intense rainfall.  Poor countries which are least equipped to deal with rapid change could suffer the most.  Responding to climate change will be the biggest challenge we face this 21st century.  It is very hard to predict accurately as there are lots of factors that can influence climate and local weather but these studies can help to provide some indication of future trends.
