COMMUNICATION SKILLS TRAINING AT UON

The University of Nairobi organized for a one day training of its staff on communiction skills.

Communication skills are abilities used when giving and receiving different kinds of information. Some examples include communicating ideas, feelings or what’s happening around you. Communication skills involve listening, speaking, observing and empathizing. It is also helpful to understand the differences in how to communicate through face-to-face interactions, phone conversations and digital communications, like email and social media.

There are different types of communication skills one can learn and practice to help become an effective communicator. Many of these skills work together, making it important to practice communication skills in different contexts whenever possible.

Communication skills enable one  to understand and be understood by others. These can include but are not limited to effectively communicating ideas to others, actively listening in conversations, giving and receiving critical feedback and public speaking.
