The Director of CaseLap at the University of Nairobi School of Law, reported that they had successful teaching, learning and online examinations last week for their students. That all the students had smart phones with them which enabled the lecturers to deliver content to them without problems. Furthermore he noted that during the examination time they had hiccups with connectivity and accessibility but later this challenge was resolved by the ICT team which was available through out the examination period.
the Director highlighted that with proper planning and early interaction with the students the online examinations are doable. He congratulated his Ph.D students for being patient when the connectivity was taking long to upload the content and also for their patience for sitting for an examination of four 4 hours daily, for two weeks without lamenting.
He also emphasised that the cameras were on for the lecturers to monitor the process just in case of eventuality of cheating and he was happy to report that he did not encounter that during the two weeks of their examination. The video linked is a clear indication that with proper planning with the students, learning can be an interesting mode of content delivery. The network challenges that are being experienced in the other parts of the country are regrettable but the University has no control over them. the only solution to this is to notify the management in advance so that they can improvise other mechanisms of content delivery to all their students.
