UoN joins the country in celebrating Labour Day

This year's labour day was celebrated at Nyayo stadium. The day is marked to celebrate the Kenyan workforce in both formal and informal sectors for their contribution to the country. This was the first in-person meeting since Covid-19 struck Kenya in 2020.The event was presided over the H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, among the attendees were COTU Sec. General Francis Atwoli and CS for labor Simon Chelugui.The event was well attended by thousands of workers. The UoN community too were represented by staff from Central Administration and Student Welfare Services.

Nairobi Innovation Week 2022

The 6th edition of Nairobi Innovation week officially kicked of on Tuesday 26th April 2022 and will run up to Thursday 28th April 2022.The event has been well attended by majority of stakeholders from as far as Masinde Muliro University,Kisii University,other government ministries i.e Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Ministry of Industrialization,corporate such as Safaricom,Mabati rolling mills just to name but a few.

Sensitisation on customer service,public complaints handling system and service delivery Charter

A sensitisation exercise was carried out at the Faculty of science and technology CEC boardroom on Monday ,April 11,2022. In attendance was the Records Manager who was part of the facilitators and trained members on proper management of exam records. Other facilitators were Ms. Shihemi and Ms. Mwakazi from TRPMU who trained on teamwork at workplace, good leadership and treating one another with utmost respect.

Administration department team building meeting

The Administration department held a team building meeting at the Council Chamber on March 24th 2022. The event was graced by the Registrar Administration Mr. Peter Muturi, Ag. Registrar Administration Mr. Bernard D.Njuguna and the Ag.Director Human Resource Ms. Gatune. During the meeting, Performance Contracting  and staff appraisal was discussed. The members also took time to introduce and interact among themselves and their section heads.

Experts debunk stigma around mental health

At the University of Nairobi’s Mental Health Awareness day celebrations held on Wednesday November 3, 2021, pertinent issues on mental health were discussed.

The day was marked in a bid to provide much needed insight given the upsurge in cases of illnesses such as depression, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and schizophrenia. It was important to debunk the stigma surrounding mental health issues in Kenya and provide information that would be integral in identifying early warning signs of mental health.

Global leaders call for fair deal for Africa at COP26

Global leaders have called for a fair deal for Africa at the COP26 conference in Glasgow. This was the clarion call by the leaders, led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, at the launch of the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) “State and Trends in Adaptation in Africa Report 2021 – How Adaptation Can Make Africa Safer, Greener and More Prosperous in a Warming World” (STA21).
