HUMANITARIAN ACTION DURING EMERGENCIES : THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC

In many countries, especially those with ongoing humanitarian crises, the Covid 19 outbreak has created significant additional pressure on the already overburdened social service delivery systems, acerbating the vulnerabilities of affected population.  This virus was first reported in China in December 2019 and so far it has spread as a bush fire to 184 countries and territories.

UNIVERSITIES FORM GLOBAL NETWORK ON CLIMATE CHANGE

The global climate network is an alliance of influential think tanks  and research institutes in different countries that collaborate on research into climate change policy and whose aim is to help address the political blockages to ambitious action to tackle global warming. The aim of the coordination network  is to vision a prosperous and secure world in which green houses gas emissions could be reduced to a level that is no longer harmful the climate system.

UPDATE ON UNIVERSITY OPERATION

This is in reference to the Senate meeting held on Tuesday March 31, 2020 in connection with the current situation on the COVID -19 pandemic in Kenya and entire World.  The senators after along deliberations noted that the situation was unbearable and our dons are equally engaged in research to assist the government and other researchers on the way possible to get the medicine that could cure this contagious disease.

They resolved that all meetings would be held online

PERFORMANCE CONTRACT 2019/2020 MIDTERM EVALUATION

The performance contract 2019/2020 midterm evaluation was held on Monday, March 2, 2020, at the University Towers.  The exercise went on smoothly and all the departments of Central Administration were evaluated on the same day.  The members were equipped with the relevant evidence and the Administration department was ready with evidence.  The evaluation was successful and the members of the Administration department were happy with the outcome.

ORIENTATION OFTHE FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND USE LIBRARY MATERIALS

The first year students of January 2020 were orientated on how to access and use the library materials.  They were taken through the entire process of access and requisition and on the opening and closing of the library and how to behave while in the library.  A library is a place of reading silently and not for group discussions.  It is a room that requires total silence and not for making noise or talking on phone.

Training of security staff in the University of Nairobi at CCU

The University of Nairobi organized for a one day security training for all security staff.  The training took place on Friday January 31, 2020 at Central Catering Unit.  The Vice Chancellor Addressed the seurity officers and urged them to be vigilant all the time as they execute their duties.

VICE CHANCELLOR 'S ADDRESS TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS - CHSS

The Vice Chancellor addressed  the first year students  yesterday January 23, 2020 in Taifa Hall at 12.00 noon.  The students and invited guests were seated by 11.30a.m.  The University choir as usual entertained the participants and spechees by Deputy Vice Chancellors Academic Division and Research, Innovation and Enterprise.  The master of ceremony of the day was Registrar Administration.  The event ended at 1.00p.m with photo session with the Vice - Chancellor
