The University of Nairobi management and KRA team met on Thursday 15th February 2024 at the Press Room UoN towers to benchmark on best practices regarding National Cohesion and Values.
The UoN Management was represented by Director HR Ms. Jane Gatune,Deputy Registrar Industrial Relations Mr.Harrison Akala and Deputy Registrar Administration Mr.Kenneth Sawe among others .
The mass which was held at JKUAT Assembly Hall was attended by family,friends,JKUAT Staff where the late Nancy worked as well as the UoN fraternity.
The UoN was represented by Registrar Administration Mr. B. D. Njuguna. The Registrar speaking on behalf of the VC Prof Stephen Kiama described the late as a former school mate of Prof Kiama in Nakuru High School and very virtous lady.The VC expressed his condolence to the family on behalf of UoN,May Nancy Rest in Eternal Peace.
The meeting which was attended by all members was chaired by Mr.Harrison Akala and was aimed at analysing the 2022-2023 PC performance vis a vis what to improve on and help members understand what needs to be done to improve the departments performance.
It was also aimed at understanding Administration Department 2023-2024 strategic plan as approved by the Council.
The Administration Department received with great shock the sudden demise of Mrs.Nancy Muguru,wife to Mr.Peter Mwai Muturi. Mr.Muturi has been the Registrar Administration since 2017 until 2022 when he retired from service.
The UoN fraternity was represented by BD Njuguna who visited Mr.Muturi's home on Sunday 11th, February to offer condolences.
We pray that the good Lord give Mr.Muturi's family strength and peace during this difficult period of mourning.
On Monday February 12,2024 at the Registrar's boardroom,the Administration Department fraternity held a farewell for one of its outstanding staff Mr.Aggrey Givai.Givai is set to transfer to Kisumu Campus and work at the Associates Dean's office.
Givai was described by his colleagues as dedicated staff,very obedient and humble.The Registrar B.D. Njuguna on his part described him as a man of integrity and fully adhered to university code of ethics.
He has been replaced by Mr.Stephen Ayiro.
In his opening address, Prof. Kiama, the University Foundation Secretary, extended a heartfelt appreciation to the Chancellor, chair of the foundation, trustees, partners, sponsors, alumni, staff, and students whose collective efforts and unwavering commitment had enabled the remarkable achievement of raising a staggering Ksh.40 million in 2022.
On Monday, January 29, 2024, the University of Nairobi extended a warm welcome to Prof Patrick Verkooijen, the recently appointed Chancellor, with a formal tour and engagement sessions.
The esteemed Chancellor recognised for his outstanding guidance and dedication to scholarly distinction, participated in various endeavours designed to cultivate a vibrant and internationally competitive milieu inside the institution.
During the annual UoN Staff Performance Recognition Award ceremony, Six administration members of staff, namely - Harrison Akala Dep,Registrar Industrial Relations,Margaret Gichamba (Assistant Registry Supervisor),Lydia Wanjiru (Registry Clerk), Phylis Makungu (Registry Clerk) ,Edward Nandebe (Registry Clerk) Linet Nunda (Registry Clerk) received awards in recognition of their exemplary service.
This event was held simultaneously with the signing of the University of Nairobi Performance Contract for the year Financial Year 2023/2024.
Administration department and members of the UoN Fraternity engages in tree planting exercise at the Faculty of Science and Technology on 16th June,2023.The event which was graced by Prof. Ogengo was done in partnership with the National Biosafety Authority, Kenya Forestry Service, Equity Bank and the County Government of Nairobi.
