STAFF APPRAISAL EXERCISE

Staff appraisal exercise is an annual event which commences from 1st July to to 30th June of every financial year.  It is my sincere hope that all the staff in Administration department have already set their targets ready for appraisal and evaluation of the attributes by their supervisors.  Those that have not yet set targets kindly use this time of lock down to do so.  This is to encourage you to set your targets now.  Failure to which you will be locked out by end of June when the system will be closed and no more entries will be allowed.  Let us ensure that we comply before the June dea

The Covid 19 pandemic is an invisible enemy.  The enemy moves among us unseen and we are relying mostly on case counts by the Ministry of Health to track its movement.  At the beginning of 2020, people ushered in the new year with great expectations.  Many made resolutions but little did they knew that the enemy was approaching. The enemy entered into the world and spread like wild fire.  All over the world people were in loss, frustrated, confused and in fear.  The moment the first case was announced in Kenya every thing came to a stand still.

ACCESS TO HIGHER EDUCATION FOR DEAF STUDENTS DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC

The University of Nairobi has embraced the use of modern technology by ensuring that its functions and activities are not postponed during this Covid 19 pandemic period by uploading all the courses online and administering the examinations online to all the students.  The University in collaboration with Telkom Kenya has provided bundles to the lecturers and students for continuity.  The University through the department of sign language has also ensured that the deaf students are able to access the materials online just as their counterparts.  Due to the outbreak of covid 19 the department

IMPACT OF COVID 19 ON ECONOMY

Dr. Joy Kiiri a senior lecturer in the University of Nairobi,  School of Economics on Citizen TV live at 9.00 p.m on Friday May 15, 2020 said that if the virus continuous to spread further then it is going to hit the economy very hard.  The sector most affected presently is the tourism and hospitality which accounts for roughly 10% of the country's GDP.  The whole world has started experiencing this challenges caused by covid 19 .It is our prayer that this pandemic ends soon.  We appreciate the efforts of our University of Nairobi Dons  researching on covid 19. 

APPLICATION OF LEAVE ONLINE

How to apply for leave when locked down in the diaspora during this trying period of Covid 19.The University of Nairobi installed the HRMIS system to enable staff apply for leave online at the comfort of their offices or homes.  There are several types of leaves that one can apply namely:- Annual leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, sabbatical leave, study leave, unpaid leave just to mention but a few. 

LESSONS OF HISTORY

Humanity should never allow a repeat of the same mistake that happened in 1918.  The most severe pandemic in history was Spanish Influenza of 1918.  It lasted for three years in three waves with 500 million people infected and 50 million deaths.  Most of the fatalities happened in the 2nd wave.  The people felt so bad about the quarantine and social distancing, measures that when they were first lifted, the people rejoiced in streets and other social gatherings with abandon.  In the coming weeks, the 2nd wave occurred with tens of millions dead.

ARCHIVAL RECORDS/MATERIALS

In general, Archives consists of records that have been selected for permanent or long term preservation on grounds of their enduring cultural, historical, or evidentiary value.  This means that archives are quite distinct from libraries with regard to their functions and organization.  They have been metaphorically defined as the secretion of an organism and are distinguished from documents that have been consciously written or created to communicate a particular message to posterity.  This records are unique and rare to find due to the content they contain. 

PAYMENT OF OUTSTANDING FEE BALANCES
